New York marathon

Posted by thepeteplan on November 1, 2008

Erg session:

5 x 5min / 5min rest:

1319m / 1:53.7 / 25

1377m / 1:48.9 / 26

1581m / 1:34.9 / 34 (CTC)

1326m / 1:53.1 / 25

1415m / 1:46.0 / 28

New York marathon:

As we decided not to run in the marathon tomorrow instead we walked around Central Park today after our erg session and saw the final section of the marathon route and the finish line. We were going to take our pictures under the finish, but the clock was running and it said 4h12, and that wouldn’t make such a good picture. Then we went to the marathon expo to see what free stuff they were giving away, so I have a nice bag of powerbars and the like. Unfortunately no free clothing or shoes…

New York days 2 & 3

Posted by thepeteplan on November 1, 2008

Training:

Thursday:

5k = 16:57.8 / 1:41.7 / 29

3 x 100m / 80r = 1:19.0, 1:19.5, 1:21.0

Friday:

60mins = 16355m / 1:50.0

Today’s session started with the aim of it being very comfortable at 1:54 pace. Jamie and I are both reasonably competitive though, and both pretty well matched in terms of pace on the longer distances, so it was never really going to stay at 1:54 pace I don’t think. Quite heavily negative splitted with a 1:46 final 12min split, so a good workout overall.

Other than the erg sessions I’ve been doing quite a lot of walking around New York to see some of the sights. Tomorrow was to be the day for running in Central Park, but neither of us are that into running, so I think it will be erging at the gym followed by a walk in central park. Perhaps the New York marathon on Sunday will inspire me to want to run, but let’s hope not.
