Where did that come from?

Posted by thepeteplan on August 9, 2008

I put the olympics on the tv, set up the erg in the living room, put 60mins on the clock, and set off. I also put on my heart rate monitor just for interest, and set off aiming for a comfortable aerobic row. Gentle negative splits, and a fairly uneventful hour on the erg:

60mins = 16113m / 1:51.7 / 22

5min splits:
1:55.5 / 21 / 130
1:54.5 / 21 / 136
1:53.5 / 21 / 140
1:52.6 / 22 / 141
1:51.9 / 22 / 144
1:51.7 / 23 / 147
1:51.2 / 23 / 148
1:51.0 / 23 / 148
1:50.1 / 23 / 151
1:49.8 / 23 / 153
1:49.5 / 23 / 156
1:49.0 / 23 / 156

The right hand number is the heart rate at the end of each 5min split, as recorded by the PM4. When I finished I looked down to the floor under the erg and saw this:

I was a little worried where this sprinkling of blood had come from. If you’ve ever had a blood injury when playing sport you’ll know that when blood mixes with sweat it spreads a long way. Then I remembered, I cut my finger on a broken glass this morning – I’ll spare you the photo of my finger.

Also this morning, before the rain came, about 12miles out on my bike.
